After getting released by the Cincinnati Reds at the end of the 2023 season, veteran hurler Luis Cessa is now plying his trade at the Kansas City Royals' affiliate, Triple-A Omaha. In eight appearances for the Storm Chasers, Cessa has produced a pitching line of 4.44 ERA with 20 strikeouts and a 1.56 WHIP.

On Wednesday, Cessa produced a scintillating start for the Royals' affiliate. Against the St. Paul Saints, the pitcher recorded five innings of two-hit ball with five strikeouts and a lone walk issued. The Storm Chasers defeated the Saints 6-0.

The former Cincinnati pitcher's brilliant start garnered ecstasy from his wife, Nancy Arreola, who shared it on Instagram. Nancy couldn't contain her excitement in the snippets and even captioned it with "La más gritona y orgullosa!" which translates to "the loudest and proudest."

Luis Cessa was originally signed by the New York Mets as an international free agent in 2008. However, he wouldn't make his MLB debut until 2016. This time, for crosstown rivals, the New York Yankees.

The 32-year-old spent six years in the Yankees' system, yoyoing between the main squad and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He was then traded in 2021 to the Cincinnati Reds, where he spent nearly three seasons.

After his stint with the Reds, Cessa signed a minor league deal with the Kansas City Royals. He has since made eight appearances for the team's Triple-A affiliate, starting seven.
