OKC Thunder vs Dallas Mavericks Game Summary

Game 4 of the OKC Thunder versus Dallas Mavericks showdown began as a defensive battle. Both teams found it hard to get going on offense until Dallas opened up the game a little midway through the quarter. From a 6-7 score, the hosts sprinted to a 22-8 advantage with four minutes to go in the said period.

The Thunder managed to regroup to inch closer to the Mavericks. Dallas took a 30-20 lead after the first 12 minutes passed.

The OKC Thunder had a strong start in the second quarter to cut the Dallas Mavericks' lead to 40-33. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, however, helped the Mavericks to an impressive finishing kick before the halftime break started. Dallas had a 54-43 advantage with the second half still to be played.

P.J. Washington's 23-footer off an assist from Luka Doncic made it 67-56 for the Dallas Mavericks with roughly four minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Thunder closed out the said period with a 9-2 blast to close within 69-65 before the fourth quarter.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was responsible for the late surge with timely support by Cason Wallace on both ends of the floor. Oklahoma contained Dallas' offense and limited it to just 15 points in the third quarter.

The OKC Thunder, taking the momentum from the previous period, kept poking and pushing the Dallas Mavericks. Wallace's 25-footer around the seven-minute mark ignited the Thunder's big in the final frame. From being down 80-72, OKC tied it at 86 with 4:02 to go.

Chet Holmgren's trifecta allowed the Thunder to finally take the lead and then hold on to it despite Dallas' desperate attempts to overhaul the advantage. Luka Doncic's free throw with 10 seconds remaining made it 96-95. As the game turned into a free-throw shooting contest, the Thunder squeaked past Dallas.

Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made four free throw shots while P.J. Washington and Doncic hit 2-for-4 from the charity stripe. The Thunder scored its most impressive victory this season when they walked away with a 100-96 win in Game 4 to even the series.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic's 3-pointers tonight

The OKC Thunder went 1-for-11 from deep in the first half with the only successful basket coming from Josh Giddey, who had a 1-for-2 line. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander attempted just once from the same distance and went wide left.

Like "SGA," Kyrie Irving didn't have a good night from that range, missing the only shot he took. Luka Doncic fared a bit better, sinking 2-of-6 tries from that distance.

Gilgeous-Alexander's first-half line didn't budge as he did not jack up one shot from deep in the second half. Giddey let one fly but could not make the basket.

"Uncle Drew" wasn't productive either, finishing the night with a blank from that range in two attempts. Doncic made two shots from that distance but took nine attempts.
