Like a handful of other NBA players, Kevin Durant sponsors his own AAU team. The former MVP was so impressed by a recent highlight that he gave a shout-out to a player on social media.

In the clip that has surfaced online, a 15-year-old threw down an impressive poster dunk on his opponent. With the game tipping off at 8:00 a.m., KD made a hilarious remark:

"Wake his a** up."

Kevin Durant got into the AAU scene back in 2016, around the same time he was getting ready to join the Golden State Warriors. The team is based out of Washington, D.C., where the superstar forward grew up.

"Team Durant" has squads for all different ages. For the boys, there is a U15, U16 and U17 team. There are also girls' teams for the same age.

Per their mission statement, Team Durant's goals span far beyond the basketball court. Along with focusing on education, their goal is to help kids grow as people, not just athletes.

"At Team Durant, we strive to provide a positive and inclusive environment for youth basketball players to develop their athletic skills, education, and personal growth. We believe that through teamwork and perseverance, we can help our players reach their full potential. Our motto is to move as one, both on and off the court."

Per their website, Team Durant alumni have racked up over 100 college offers.

Kevin Durant has had a massive impact on his community by sponsoring his own AAU team. However, the All-Star forward has his sights set much higher.

As his career is still going on, KD is content with his off-court work on the AAU scene. When his playing days are over, the bar might get raised. During an interview with "Business Insider," Durant's agent and business partner Rich Kleiman said their goal is to one day own an NBA team.

"Kevin clearly will have many opportunities to be associated with NBA teams and organizations, staying around the game his whole life," Kleiman said.

"I hope I do as well. And I hope that the business we're building puts us in a position one day to be able to have an opportunity to buy into an NBA team."

Based on his production this season, it's unlikely Kevin Durant will be stepping away from the game anytime soon. Despite entering his mid-30s and battling multiple injuries, he is still one of the NBA's top stars. This season for the Phoenix Suns, he posted averages of 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
