Not Ferrari, Adrian Newey’s manager Eddie Jordan‘s huge blunder might have accidentally disclosed the F1 guru’s next move

Former world champion Damon Hill cheekily called out Adrian Newey's manager and former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan for accidentally giving the aero wizard's next destination in the sport after his Red Bull exit. Newey announced that he would be leaving the Red Bull team in early 2025 and has officially left his F1 duties.

The 65-year-old was a key player in the Austrian team's success in the sport since entering F1 in 2005 as he was the designer behind every race win and multiple title-winning cars.

Since his announcement, there has been a lot of chatter regarding his future in the sport with Ferrari being touted as the next possible destination for him and join Lewis Hamilton at the Italian team.

However, Adrian Newey's manager Eddie Jordan in an event for Oyster Yachts, mistakenly revealed that his client might join McLaren if the Woking-based team's CEO Zak Brown offered a better bike given Newey's passion for cycling. He said:

"This guy [Newey] is an absolute killer on a bike and it’s a crap bike. When we get the next deal from Zak [Brown, McLaren CEO] or whoever it might be, a proper new bike will be part of the contract.”

1996 world champion Damon Hill on his social media platform, X, cheekily claimed that Jordan might have made a "monumental EJ gaff", saying:

"Is this a clue, a deliberate diversion, or a monumental EJ gaff? Your chance to win an Oyster Yacht (that's a joke)."

Adrian Newey expresses his desire to race for a different team after Red Bull

Adrian Newey stated that he was 'seriously considering' joining another team after Red Bull for the next 'four to five years'.

As per F1.com, the aero wizard said at the same event:

“It’s a popular question at the moment. I think the easiest way to answer that is if you’d asked me 15 years ago, at the age of 65, would I seriously be considering changing teams, going somewhere else, and doing another four, five years, or whatever, I’d have said, ‘You’re absolutely mad’," Newey said.
"Honestly, I’ve wanted to work in motor racing, as a designer, since I was the age of eight or 10, and I’ve been lucky enough to fulfill that ambition, to have got that first job, and been in motor racing ever since," he added.

He added:

"Every day has just been a bonus really, I love what I do, so at some point, I guess I’ll have a bit of a holiday and as Forrest Gump said at the end of his long run, ‘I feel a little bit tired at the moment’, but at some point, I’ll probably go again.”

Although many teams are lining up for his signature at the moment, it remains to be seen which team Adrian Newey will finally join next season.
