Carlo Ancelotti comments on future on Real Madrid duo amid reported contract talks 

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has shared his thoughts on Toni Kroos and Luka Modric's futures at the club. The contracts of both legendary midfielders expire this summer and they are yet to sign an extension.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding both Kroos and Modric's futures in recent weeks. They have been crucial players for Los Blancos over the years and this season as well. However, with new young players coming in, their position at the club is under threat.

Ancelotti recently spoke about Modric (38) and Kroos' (34) future, saying (via Fabrizio Romano):

“I am always optimistic. I’ve never had any problem with Modrić, we really respect each other. He’s a top guy, top player.

“My feeling with Kroos is also excellent so we are really happy."

Kroos has featured prominently for Real Madrid this season and has been in sublime form, making 46 appearances across competitions. His form and performances also made him come out of retirement to return to the German national team ahead of the UEFA Euro 2024.

Modric, meanwhile, has mostly played a supporting role, starting in 22 of his overall 43 appearances. However, he's made a big impact in his playing time, registering two goals and eight assists.

Luka Modric and Toni Kroos set to sign a new contract at Real Madrid: Reports

As per journalist Jose Felix Diaz, both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are set to sign a one-year contract extension at Real Madrid. The duo will be rewarded for their performances this season.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Modric has expressed his desire to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu multiple times. He's also open to significantly reducing his wages, from €420,000 per week (via Capology) and accepting a secondary role.

Modric arrived at Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012 and was labeled as La Liga's worst signing of the season by a magazine. However, he's become a club legend and is widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time. He's registered 39 goals and 86 assists in 531 games for Los Blancos.

Toni Kroos, meanwhile, has contributed 28 goals and 98 assists in 463 games for the Spanish giants since arriving from Bayern Munich in 2014. The duo have helped the Merengues win four UEFA Champions League trophies, among other honors.

They've also won the La Liga and the Supercopa de Espana this season and will face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.
