Journalist Piers Morgan recently took a dig at Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, saying that winning one Premier League title in eight years doesn't make him a 'Premier League great'.

The German manager will leave the Anfield club following the culmination of the season. During his nine-year tenure, the former Borussia Dortmund coach helped The Reds win a Premier League title in 2019-20 (their first in 30 years) and their sixth UEFA Champions League trophy, among other honors.

While Liverpool were part of a three-horse race for the league title this season as well, they bowed out of it recently following a 3-3 draw against Aston Villa (May 14).

Reacting to an image on X showing Jurgen Klopp standing in the middle of Anfield and being dubbed one of the 'Premier League greats', Morgan said:

"I don't think winning one League title in 8 yrs makes you a Premier League great."

Talking about his plans to take a 'long break' following his departure from Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp made it clear that he would never return to the Premier League.

He said (via Fabrizio Romano):

"It will be a long break, for sure. For sure I’m not returning soon. It might even be it. My time in England is definitely over because I’ll never coach another team here, it’s over in the Premier League. If I manage again, it will not be around the corner."

The Reds will face Wolves on Sunday, May 19, the last matchday of the season.

Liverpool have planned a farewell arrangement for one of their most successful managers

The club has planned a farewell event for their German manager. Titled 'An Evening with Jurgen Klopp & Special Guests', it will take place on May 28 at the M&S Bank Arena.

Several Merseyside musicians will be performing at the event. One of the highlights is a live question-and-answer session with Klopp. This will allow fans to delve deeper into the intimate moments behind the scenes during the 56-year-old's nine-year tenure.

Meanwhile, famed journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Arne Slot has officially signed a deal to replace Klopp as the Liverpool manager. The club will reportedly make the announcement once Slot's coaching staff members receive their work permits.
