Manchester United have reportedly come to a decision regarding the future of on-loan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after an unimpressive stint at the club. Reports indicate that the Red Devils will not be activating their option to buy the midfielder outright, and he will return to Fiorentina.

Morocco international Amrabat became one of the most sought-after midfielders in world football after he helped his country reach the semifinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Manchester United managed to land him last summer, paying a loan fee of £8.5 million to sign him from Fiorentina.

Amrabat arrived at Old Trafford with an injury, causing him to miss the first few games following his arrival. Upon his return to action, an injury crisis at the club saw him thrust into an unfamiliar left-back role, where he struggled.

Since the start of the season, the 27-year-old has featured only 20 times in league football for Erik ten Hag's side, with most of his showings uninspiring. With only nine starts under his belt, Amrabat has failed to do enough to warrant a permanent switch to Old Trafford despite a late resurgence in form.

Manchester United will not exercise their option to buy the midfielder for around £21.4 million according to Football Insider and will send him back to Italy. The Red Devils would need to sign a defensive midfielder though due to the struggles of Casemiro, and their choice of signing will be interesting to see.

Sofyan Amrabat may choose to remain with Fiorentina, where he has one year left on his contract, or move away from the club this summer.

Despite failing to impress at Manchester United, Sofyan Amrabat has a number of suitors in the Premier League waiting for his next step. The midfielder is expected to return to Italy as the Red Devils look increasingly unlikely to hand him a permanent deal.

According to The Sun, Crystal Palace and Fulham, both London clubs, are considering a move for the midfielder, who has impressed in recent weeks. Oliver Glasner's Palace are keen to build on their strong finish to the season by recruiting well to leave them where they want to be next season.

Fulham have eyes on Amrabat as they prepare for the exit of João Palhinha from their club in the summer. The Portugal international was close to a Bayern Munich move last summer and is expected to move to another club this summer despite signing a new deal.
