The latest Fortnite update, v23.40, dropped yesterday and brought major changes to the island and gameplay. With this update, the game shifted its focus from the Rift Gate to Oathbound and instead brought a heist-style limited-time event for players to enjoy in Chapter 4 Season 1.
The Most Wanted event brings back vaults, keycards, bosses, and "Cold Blooded" henchmen. Eliminate the cold-blooded henchmen guarding the vault and the NPC boss against looting exotic weapons and gold bars they have stashed inside.
Along the way, players will also see their Heat Level rise gradually as they loot weapons, eliminate opponents, and progress higher in a Battle Royale match.

Players can complete a set of Most Wanted Quests to gain INFAMY, which can then be used to unlock a bunch of free rewards that can be seen on the event tab right next to the Fortnite Battle Pass menu. The rewards include a glider, pickaxe, backbling, Gold Blooded Ace outfit, and more that players can get for free by completing the quests.
However, the Fortnite event will expire on February 28, 2023, at 2:00 am ET, and every couple of days, players will receive a new set of quests that will help them unlock those rewards. There are five main stages under the Most Wanted Questline, out of which the first one, Intel and Recon, is active.
Fortnite Quest Guide: How to complete Intel and Recon Most Wanted challenges in Chapter 4 Season 1
Players can check out the main quests tab to navigate the newly added Most Wanted Quests. These Fortnite quests will grant players up upto 1.5K INFAMY upon completion of each quest, which they can then use to unlock free cosmetics from the Most Wanted page, denoted by a gold snake enclosed in a triangle icon.
The first set of quests is called Intel and Recon and consists of a bunch of challenges that are quite simple for players to complete to get INFAMY. Here are all the quests and how you can easily complete them:
1) Raise Heat Levels (4)
Players must raise their heat level four times in the first Intel and Recon quest. This quest can be completed in a single Fortnite match if you survive long enough to see all four flame icons light up and reach your maximum heat level range. To increase your heat level, you need to either loot as much as possible from containers, loot chests or open a vault.
You can also raise your levels by eliminating as many opponents as possible during a match. However, the easiest way to increase your heat level is by purchasing them from a Burner Pay Phone near Bounty Boards at major POIs. Raise your Heat Levels four times to complete the Fortnite quest and get rewarded with 1.5K INFAMY.
2) Purchase weapons from Ace's Exotics or Ace's Armory vending machines (10)
Players must stack up on gold bars before attempting to complete this quest. It requires purchasing weapons from the new vending machines or NPCs carrying exotic weapons. However, you must purchase at least 10 weapons to complete the Fortnite quest, which can be done across different matches.
However, the easiest and cheapest way to complete the Fortnite quest is by heading to a vending machine and spam buy Gas Cans and Impulse Grenades, which are counted as weapons and do not require you to spend a fortune in gold bars.
However, there are only four units of each in a single machine, so you might need to purchase two standard weapons that cost around 200 gold bars each. Once you purchase 10 of them, they will be granted 1K INFAMY that you can use to unlock the rewards.
3) Collect a Vault Keycard dropped by a defeated Cold Blooded Boss (1)
In this quest, all players must do is defeat a Cold Blooded Boss at any of the three vault locations and collect the keycard once they are eliminated.
Currently, the three bosses can be found at Shattered Slabs, Faulty Splits, and Brutal Bastion. Land at one of these locations on the Fortnite island, gear up with weapons, ammo, and consumables, and eliminate all Cold Blooded Henchmen guarding the boss.
Once they are gone, head to the boss and eliminate them with rapid shots. However, maintain a safe distance as they carry heavy weapons that can inflict serious damage upon you. Collect any one keycard from the boss' loot drop, and your Fortnite quest will be completed for 1.5K INFAMY.
4) Visit Named Locations containing a Cold Blooded Vault (3)
To complete this quest, players must visit the named Fortnite locations that house the newly added cold-blooded vaults guarded by Henchmen and a Boss.
Currently, on the Chapter 4 Season 1 island, there are three locations containing the vault: Brutal Bastion, Faulty Splits, and Shattered Slabs. All you need to do is land on the POI, and your quest will be easily completed.
It is advisable to complete the quest in different matches or the Team Rumble mode, as it requires players to traverse long distances across the Fortnite island. Upon completion, the quest will reward you with 1.2K INFAMY.
5) Collect Gold Bars (2000)
Players must collect 2000 Gold Bars across several Fortnite matches to complete this quest. However, if you want to do it in a single match, you can open a vault and break the stacks of gold. This should grant you enough bars to complete the quest easily. Upon completion, you'll be rewarded with 1K INFAMY that you can use to unlock free rewards in Fortnite.
6) Spend Gold Bars on weapons or services in different matches (5)
This is a simpler quest where you only need to spend gold bars by either purchasing weapons from a vending machine, an NPC, or a service from Ace's Intel machine.
Once you spend bars across five different Fortnite matches, your quest will be completed. However, this challenge does not progress if you spend bars while doing an Augment reroll. Upon completing this quest, you'll be rewarded with 1.5K INFAMY.
7) Search Safes or Cash Registers (4)
In this quest, you must search four cash registers or safes around the island. A more straightforward method to do the same is to open both of them in a Cold Blooded vault, so you are done with the quest in a single Fortnite match.
If you aren't able to open a vault, head to nearby gas stations and search for cash registers to complete the quest faster. You will receive 1K INFAMY as soon as you complete the quest.
8) Damage opponents using exotics and unvaulted weapons (1000)
With the Most Wanted update, several weapons from the previous Fortnite season were unvaulted, and the newer ones underwent an exotic remodel. Here is a list of weapons that are exotic and unvaulted in the current update:
- Submachine Gun (P90)
- Dual Pistols
- Hand Cannon (Desert Eagle)
- Heavy Sniper Rifle
- Boom Sniper Rifle
- Hop Rock Dualies
- Explosive Assault Rifle
- Breacher Shotgun
- Accelerant Shotgun
- Run 'N' Gun SMG
- Blink Mag SMG
While the Unvaulted weapons can easily be found around the Fortnite island, the Exotic weapons can be found in Holo Chests, purchasable from NPCs or stashed inside a Cold Blooded vault. Get your hands on any of the above weapons and deal at least 1000 damage to your opponents to complete the quest in exchange for 1K INFAMY.
9) Collect a Heavy Sniper or Boom Sniper Rifle (1)
Players can complete the quest by collecting a Heavy or a Boom Sniper Rifle. While Boom Sniper is exotic and can only be found in Holo Chests or Vaults, Heavy Sniper is easily accessible via loot chests or supply drops. Alternatively, you can purchase the Heavy Sniper from a Vending Machine to complete the quest faster for 750 INFAMY points.
Upon completing seven of the above-listed Intel and Recon quests, you will be granted a free Cold Blooded Emoticon. Complete more quests to gain more INFAMY and unlock several free cosmetics that await you in the Fortnite Most Wanted menu.
