Following Scottie Scheffler's bail, his attorney Steve Romines has said that they are not interested in any settlement talks, as the golfer didn't do anything wrong. He added that the arrest was due to a big miscommunication.
On Friday, May 17, Scottie Scheffler was heading to the Valhalla Golf Club for the second round of the PGA Championship when he was arrested by the Louisville Metro Police Department. It happened because he was trying to get past the traffic caused by a fatal accident that took place earlier in the morning.
Speaking to the Golf Channel, Romines denied any possibility of settlement, citing that Scottie Scheffler was innocent and that the arrest was due to a miscommunication. He said that he would talk to prosecutors and expect the charges to be dropped or he would go to trial. He added:

"So we’re not interested in any sort of settlement negotiations or anything like that. He didn’t do anything wrong. It was just a big miscommunication.”
Speaking about the incident, Romines said that Scottie Scheffler was advised to go around and turn left into the Valhalla Golf Club for his pre-round preparation. However, the officer who caught him didn't know this, and he just followed the instructions given to him. He continued:
"And the officer who arrested him didn’t think he was supposed to be doing that. And so, that’s where the miscommunication occurred."
"But you know, it was kind of a perfect storm of circumstances, that the fatality was down the road. And one thing needs to be clear. He didn’t drive through any accident scene or any investigation. None of that happened. That kind of misinformation is out there. That did not occur."

After getting arrested on Friday morning, Scottie Scheffler returned and shot a 5-under 66 to keep himself in contention at the PGA Championship.
During the post-round press conference, a few questions were raised regarding the morning incident. The golfer avoided going into specifics, saying that it wasn't possible to explain the situation.
"I feel like my head is still spinning," he said. "I can't really explain what happened this morning. I did spend some time stretching in a jail cell. That was a first for me.
"That was part of my warmup. I was just sitting there waiting, and I started going through my warmup. I felt like there was a chance I may be able to still come out here and play."
Scheffler is aggregating at 9-under after 36 holes and is just three strokes behind the leader Xander Schauffele.
Schauffele continued his good run, as he carded 3-under 68 to aggregate at 12-under after two days at Valhalla Golf Club. He's followed by Collin Morikawa, who ended the day at 11-under after shooting 6-under 65 in the second round.
