The 2023 PGA Championship has seen the rise of Michael Block. The 46-year-old is currently T14 on the leaderboard, becoming only the second club professional to make the cut at the PGA Championship in the last two decades.

A Twitter user called Gabby Herzig recently shared a thread of tweets, in which they talked about an incident where they met with Block's caddie Jackson.

"Just ran into Michael Block's caddie, John Jackson, in the merch tent," they wrote. "He's a full time looper at Pebble Beach and says he already has groups putting in special requests for him. He's also thinking about raising his rates."

In the second tweet, Gabby wrote about Jackson mentioning an interaction with Justin Rose. The tweet read:

"He's also pumped for the Rory pairing today, as one would be. Said Justin Rose couldn't have been nicer yesterday. After Block's bogey on No. 1, Rosey gave him a pat on the back and said, 'Time to settle in.'"

In the third tweet, Gabby wrote:

"Oh, and could someone from the @PGAChampionship get this mans some premium merch? He was as dumbfounded as I was at the empty shelves today. Rookie mistake I guess."

"I feel very, very lucky" - Michael Block on all the support he got at the 2023 PGA Championship

In a video uploaded by the PGA Tour, Michael Block was asked about the tremendous support he got from the crowd at the 2023 PGA Championship. He said:

"I feel very, very lucky. My family, My Club, The members, The PGA, Everything - The support I'm a very, very lucky guy."

Michael Block had been playing professional golf for over two decades now. He had an incredible start at the tournament. Later on, at par-3 17th, he hit the worst shot anyone could ever hit, yet got saved by scoring a par. He did not just manage to make the cut but also managed to stay in the top 10 by the end of Round 3.

People had once told Block that he could not make it to the PGA Tour, so he made peace with it and moved on with a job at Pebble Beach. Talking about his career, Michael Block said:

"If your life is in a good place the hole looks big and that's what I figured out long time ago. I wasn't going to be a TOUR pro because I don't want to have to make putts to pay my mortgage. So, I'm like I need a real job that's going to be paying me weekly so that will make the hole look bigger."

In another video uploaded by the PGA Tour, Michael Block was asked about what made him emotional after making the cut at the 2023 PGA Championship. He said:

"We're scheduled to fly out at 10 a.m tomorrow, So we're good there but I actually need to go and change my flights."

Michael Block does not have anything to lose but everything to gain. He has been phenomenal since the start of the tournament and might end up top on the leaderboard too.
