GTA sales remain strong with 425+ million copies sold so far

GTA sales have always been high, and the trend doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Take-Two Interactive recently held its Q4 earnings call and revealed a lot of interesting information about the Grand Theft Auto series.

One revelation was the overall worldwide sales figure for the Grand Theft Auto franchise to date, which now stands at 425+ million. This includes copies of all previously released titles in the series. This number is expected to grow after the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.

GTA sales are still high, increasing an average of 5 million per three months

As reported by Take-Two Interactive, GTA sales increased by five million units last quarter. During the Q3 conference call, the company reported the total sales figure of the Grand Theft Auto series to be 420+ million units. However, it now stands at 425+ million units sold worldwide. GTA 5 contributed 200 million copies, setting the bar even higher.

The significant growth in the franchise's sales is evidence that the series is still popular, with everyone awaiting Grand Theft Auto 6.

While there’s still no fixed release date for the upcoming title, Take-Two Interactive narrowed down the GTA 6 release window from calendar 2025 to fall 2025:

“Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI.”

The company assured fans about the quality of the final product, stating:

“We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase.”
