The Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales update will introduce a new mob called the Sniffer. This mob was decided to be added to the game after it won the annual mob vote competition, getting most of the votes from the player base. This is an ancient mob whose eggs can be obtained from suspicious sand and gravel blocks. Once hatched, a Snifflet will spawn that can be grown into a full Sniffer.

The new update will also bring several advancements that will be somewhat connected to all the new features. One of these advancements, called 'Little Sniffs,' can be achieved once players interact with the new Sniffer mob. Here is a step-by-step process for getting the new advancement.

Steps to get the new Little Sniffs advancement in Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales update

1) Find two Sniffer eggs

You must understand that sniffers will not spawn naturally anywhere in the in-game world. They are extremely rare, as you need to find and hatch their eggs.

Hence, you must first search for the new suspicious sand block in an ocean ruin in the warm ocean biome. These blocks look extremely similar to regular sand blocks. You also need to be careful not to let them drop as a gravity-affected block; otherwise, the item inside these blocks will break, and they will turn into normal sand blocks.

Also, if you are in an existing world, you must travel far and wide to load new chunks with new ocean ruins in a warm ocean biome to find these new features. Already-discovered structures will not generate these blocks.

There is a 6.7% chance of a sniffer egg being inside a suspicious sand block in the warm ocean biome. Hence, the chances of getting one are quite rare.

2) Hatching the sniffer egg and breeding two adult Sniffers

Once you have brand new sniffer eggs, you must place them on any block to hatch them. The eggs will take around 20 minutes to hatch if placed on any regular block. However, if you place them on any moss block, the hatching process will be catalyzed and finished in around 10 minutes.

After both the sniffer eggs hatch, two baby snifflets will spawn. Remember that to achieve the advancement, you need to feed a snifflet with torchflower or pitcher pot seed. You won't have any if you hatch your very first sniffer egg. This is because they are the only mobs that can find these rare seeds, which is what they eat.

Hence, you need to wait around 40 minutes for them to grow and find some of these new, unique plant seeds. Once you have ample numbers of them, you must breed them with these seeds for them to mate and spawn another Snifflet.

3) Feed the Snifflet to get the advancement

Once you have a Snifflet and a torchflower or a pitcher pot seed, you can simply feed the baby mob to unlock the 'Little Sniffs' advancement in the Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales update.
