Video: Hunter-Reay wins Milwaukee IndyFest

Ryan Hunter-Reay captured the Milwaukee IndyFest for the second year in a row, at the Milwaukee Mile on Saturday.

IndyCar’s Milwaukee IndyFest took off from the Milwaukee Mile on Saturday.

Marco Andretti started first, followed by Canada’s James Hinchcliffe and Australia’s Will Power.

The first caution of the race came out on lap 21 when Switzerland’s Simona de Silvestro made contact with a safety barrier in turn four.

On the restart, Andretti led the field into turn one. Behind the leaders in turn four, Alex Tagliani spun without contact but managed to avoid the wall and infield grass.

Later on lap 62, Ryan Hunter-Reay took the lead when Andretti slowed down. Andretti led the first 61 laps before his day fell apart with a mechanical issue.

Japan’s Takuma Sato then assumed the lead on lap 69 when Power hit the pit lane for four tyres and fuel. It marked Sato’s first lead in an IndyCar Series race since Sao Paulo in May.

With 53 laps to go, Hunter-Reay passed Sato on the inside for the lead.

Hunter-Reay won the Milwaukee IndyFest by 4.8059 seconds. He became the first driver to win back-to-back races at the Milwaukee Mile since Brazil’s Tony Kanaan in 2006 and 2007.

It was also a second victory of the season for the defending IndyCar Series champion.

Standings leader Helio Castroneves of Brazil was second, followed by Power as Chevrolet swept the podium.
