Saints WR Chris Olave breaks silence after getting arrested for reckless driving in Kenner

Saints wide receiver Chris Olave has come out swinging in his own defense after his arrest in Kenner for alleged reckless driving became public. The player has been one of the few bright spots in a New Orleans Saints offense that has generally struggled and was spoken of highly for his exploits in the field.

However, he has attracted negative attention after getting arrested for allegedly overspeeding. But it seems as if he has not taken lightly to the criticism, which many will claim is valid. Instead of showing contrition, he has decided that the attacks against him because the world is "crazy".

Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, he sent out two posts,

"Damn crazy world... They couldn't wait to try to tear me down & bash me"

Chris Olave arrested on suspicion of reckless driving in Kenner

Based on reports, Chris Olave was driving at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone on Joe Yenni Boulevard in Kenner, Louisiana. The area was described in a Kenner Police Department release as a "mixed business/residential area." He was driving a Dodge Charger.

According to the police, he was

"... observed travelling at the high rate of speed, recklessly maneuvering between lanes and around other drivers on the roadway."

The player was booked into the Kenner jail Monday night and was released at 11:30 p.m. The Saints have confirmed that they were aware of the situation.

The NFL team have their facility based in Kenner. After the Thursday night game against the the Jacksonville Jaguars, they had been given the weekend off. They were not practising on Monday but were required to come in for team meeting on Monday afternoon.

Chris Olave has 39 receptions for 471 yards and a touchdown this season. Last year, he breached 1,000 yards. In 15 games, he had 72 receptions and 1,042 yards. He had four receiving touchdowns to go with that in 2022. He remains among the best receivers in his draft class.

The Saints will hope to have him available in the coming days as they look to rescue their season. They currently sit at a 3-4 losing record and are third in the NFC South. They play against the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears in the coming two weeks, both of which they will regard as winnable.

After that they face the resurgent Minnesota Vikings before a divisional clash against the Atlanta Falcons, before a matchup with the high flying Detroit Lions. Missing Chris Olave in a struggling offense might be a huge loss for them.
