Texas football is gearing up for significant changes in its 2025 lineup under Steve Sarkisian, with a strong focus on landing the top three wide receivers (WRs): Dakorien Moore, Kaliq Lockett, and Jaime Ffrench, who could potentially elevate Texas’ gameplay.

Five-star WR Dakorien Moore recently de-committed from LSU, where he had been pledged since August 12. Texas, Ohio State, and Oregon have been actively pursuing Moore, ensuring he visits their campuses.

Dakorien Moore stands at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds and is the No. 1 wideout and third-best overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

Kaliq Lockett, rated the No. 2 wide receiver in the country and the No. 3 overall recruit in Texas for the 2025 class by 247Sports, had an impressive 2023 season with 59 receptions for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Lockett is scheduled to visit Texas for its spring scrimmage in early June and has an official visit planned for June 21. Growing up in the Dallas area, speaking to On3's Steve Wiltfong, Lockett shared his affinity for Texas.

“What I like about them is how balanced their offense is. You saw Xavier Worthy and AD Mitchell, they moved around different spots in the field. They all were in-sync with each other’s play style. That’s what I like about Texas.”

Jaime Ffrench, another highly sought-after talent, decommitted from Alabama on January 14 and has since drawn attention from several top programs, including Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, and Tennessee.

Ffrench has indicated that Texas and Ohio State are currently "at the top" of his recruitment. The Longhorns have maintained consistent communication with him since offering a scholarship in January.

Ffrench appreciated the attention and early interest from Texas, noting:

“Coach Sark. The love they showed early as soon as they offered me the scholarship in January, Ffrench told On3’s Chad Simmons. The love coach [Chris] Jackson showed. Great people in the building, stuff like that.”

Texas appears in a strong position to land 5-Star WR Dakorien Moore

Dakorien Moore, after de-committed from LSU, opened up opportunities for Texas, Ohio State, and Oregon. Texas has been a strong contender throughout Moore's recruitment.

In an interview with On3’s Chad Simmons in April, Dakorien Moore expressed his openness to other offers:

“I’m really just seeing what everybody else has got to offer. I’m really just seeing the little things piece by piece, seeing what everybody else has got to show me.”

According to 247Sports recruiting analyst Mike Roach, the Texas Longhorns remain a favorite to land Moore.

"The Longhorns have been a presumed favorite for quite some time and just picked up several 247Sports Crystal Balls in favor of the Longhorns," Roach noted.
"Moore's family has ties to the Austin area and some family members still live in the state capital."

Both 247Sports and On3 project Moore to stay in Texas and join the Longhorns.

Dakorien Moore is ranked as the No. 3 player nationally, the No. 1 wide receiver, and the No. 1 player in Texas. Throughout high school, Moore performed incredibly well.

He caught 130 passes over his four years, gaining 2,653 yards and scoring 29 touchdowns. In his junior year alone, he made 71 receptions for 1,523 yards and 18 touchdowns.
