The San Jose Sharks won 4-1 against the Washington Capitals on Sunday at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. The Capitals had just come off an impressive win against the top brass Boston Bruins. The Capitals looked fatigued tonight after a taxing game yesterday, which resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Capitals.

NHL Twitter reacted to the Sharks' impressive win against the towering Capitals team:

"The fatigued Washington Capitals were a step slow and had late lineup absences that were too big to overcome Sunday night as they ran out of gas in the finale of their road trip." tweeted PostSports
"Erik Karlsson became the 4th #SJSharks d-man to have 3+ points in a game vs Capitals (Blake, Boyle & Burns), and the first to do so on the road. Karlsson's only other 3-point game vs WSH: Feb. 22, 2012 in Ottawa (also 1 G, 2 A). #NHLStats #HockeyTwitter #SJSvsWSH'," tweetd SharksStats
"FINAL | Sharks 4, Caps 1. Capitals drop one to the Sharks, not what they were hoping for after beating the Bruins yesterday. Erik Karlsson was the difference-maker in this one." tweeted ByMattWeyrich

Evgeny Svechnikov scored the first goal of the game. He dribbled down the left side and snapped a shot past goalie Charlie Lindgren to increase his goal tally to five.

Alexander Barbanov doubled the Sharks' lead nine minutes into the second half, when a shot deflected off the goalie and fell to his stick. The goal guaranteed a point for Barbanov, marking his four-game point streak.

Late into the second period, Evgeny Kuznetsov ran down the right wing. He impressively fought off a defender to guide the puck into the net, making it 1-2 for the Washington Capitals.

Erik Karlsson netted his 18th goal of the season with an assist from Alexander Barbanov to make it 3-1 for the San Jose Sharks. He flipped a shot from afar, but it somehow managed to keep away from Lindgren's line of sight. Karlsson now has 73 points in 54 games in the 2022-23 NHL season.

Tomas Hertl scored into an empty net with two minutes remaining on the clock to seal the win for the San Jose Sharks.
